Mrs. Beatrice Townes Williams, 99, of Boydton, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Boydton.

Mrs. Williams was born in Mecklenburg County, on Feb. 14, 1920 to the late Jessie and Bessie Richardson Townes. She received her early education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools, and was a member of New St. Douglas Baptist Church in Boydton. Mrs. Williams was a retired cook who in her spare time enjoyed sewing and attending church.

She leaves not to mourn her passing, but to cherish many loving memories one son, Floyd Williams Jr. of Boydton, 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Sally Parks of Boydton, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Williams Sr.; one son, Jessie Lloyd; one great-grandchild, Dakyah Washington and eight siblings.

A funeral was held Sunday, May 12, at New St. Douglas Baptist Church, with Rev. Chester Terry officiating. Burial followed in Easter’s Cemetery, Boydton.
