Beryl Reston McGhee Pointer of Pointer Road, Alton died Friday, June 8, 2018 at SOVAH Health, Danville at the age of 69.

Mrs. Pointer was born in Durham, N.C., Aug. 15, 1948 to Obelia Foriesteen Crawley McGhee and the late Walter McGhee Sr. She was married to Carl Edward Pointer Sr. for 49 years and was a member of Hyco Zion Baptist Church, Roxboro, N.C.

In addition to her mother and husband, Mrs. Pointer is survived by her children, Carl “Boo” Pointer Jr. (Camille), Deborah “Debbie” Coleman (Doug) and Shawn Pointer (Robyn), all of Alton; seven grandchildren; a great granddaughter; six sisters, Shirl Bumphus (Edward) of Roxboro, N.C., Kurl Brandon (Charles, Sr.) of Alton, Leacha Barnette (William) of Maryland, Twila Walker (Larry) of Annapolis, Md., Wendy McGhee of Whitsett, N.C., and Tara McGhee of Leasburg, N.C.; two brothers, Henry ”Wes” McGhee (Gladys) of Roxboro, N.C. and Walter McGhee Jr. (Renee); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl McGhee.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at Hyco Zion Baptist Church, 996 Concord Road, Roxboro, N.C. with Rev. Stanley Kearney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, June 12 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and at all other times at her residence, 4046 Pointer Road, Alton.
