Bettie Evelyn Moorefield Allen

Bettie Evelyn Moorefield Allen, 72, of South Boston, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. She was born in Pittsylvania County on Nov. 14, 1940, a daughter of the late Herman Randolph Moorefield and Lena Saunders Moorefield.

She was married to Louis Stephen (Steve) Allen, was a member of Revelation Baptist Church and was a retired bookkeeper with Westinghouse/ABB.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Michael (Mike) Allen and wife Karen of South Boston; one daughter, Renee A. Merciez and fiancé Jason Stallings of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Kristin Barton and husband Bill of Green Bay, Justin Allen of South Boston, Joshua Merciez of Suffolk and Philip Merciez of Fort Hood, Texas, two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Mackenzie Barton of Green Bay.

A funeral will be held Thursday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Revelation Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Coghill, the Rev. Daryl Hancock and the Rev. Ken Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens.
