Betty Jean Dixon Rickman, 75, of Halifax, passed away on Tuesday, October 30 at Berry Hill Nursing Home after strongly battling cancer over the past couple of years. She was born in Halifax County on July 12, 1943, a daughter of the late Tillman Lee Dixon and the late Lavonia Moss Dixon. She lived in Halifax her entire life and worked in various jobs, including Tultex, Roses and CVS. She was a member of Revelation Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rickman is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Rickman of the home; her daughters, Cynthia Fuqua of Roxboro, NC, Rae Rickman of Halifax, Annette Morris (Jeff) of Chatham; her grandchildren, Robin Thompson (Billy), Max Thompson (Kassi), Chris Ford, Katie Phelps (Kyle), Hayley Morris and Savannah Morris; her great-grandson, Carter Thomason; sisters, Lavonia Snow; sisters-in-law, Ruth Riddle (Maurice), Jean Newton and Mary Ogle Cudd and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Cudd, brother-in-law, Richard Snow and sister-in-law, Barbara Yeaman.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Norman Talley and Pastor Billy Coghill officiating. Interment will follow in Clover Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to service at Powell Funeral home and other times at 1085 Fordland Drive, Halifax. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Virginia 2235 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23230.
