Beverly David Wood

Beverly David Wood, 80, of Porter Lane, South Boston, died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Sentara Woodview. He was born in Halifax County on Sept. 12, 1938, son of the late Beverly Isaac Wood and Sarah Eliza Jennings Wood Medley. He was married to Joan Ansari Wood and was a member of Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wood is survived by one brother, Luther I. Wood (Catherine) of Richmond; three sisters, Gladys L. Holt of South Boston, Mamie Delores Price of Alexandria and Dorothy Loraine Moorman (William) of Lenning; four step-children, Calvin Ansari and Terry Ansari (Sophia), all of Bermuda, Carolyn Turner of New York and Anees Ansari of Washington; one sister-in-law, Ruth Bremma (Alfred); one brother-in-law, Conrad Albouy (Dorene); and a host of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mattie Wood, Lillie Mae Wood, Dolly M. Jeffress and Adele Wood Burns and one brother, Calvin Wood.

A funeral will be held Thursday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder Calvin Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing was held Wednesday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 1221 Porter Lane, South Boston.
