Billy Truman Wood, 68, of Mallard Lane, South Boston, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born March 28, 1949 in Halifax County, a son of the late Issac Wood and Mary Irby Wood. Mr. Wood was married to Lillian Easley Wood and was a member of New Mt. Olive Apostolic Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wood is survived by two daughters, Lakeisha Wood and Winnie E. Baker and husband Michael, all of South Boston; two sons, Truman L. Wood and wife Rhonda and Efriem M. Wood and wife Claudia, all of South Boston; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Claude T. Wood and Issac J. Wood, both of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Azaria Walton, one sister, Lonnie Rae Ragsdale and two brothers, John R. Wood and Arthur Lee Wood.

A funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at New Mt. Olive Apostolic Church with Rev. Dr. Brenneta C. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Thursday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m., at Jeffress Funeral Home, and at other times at 1018 Mallard Lane, South Boston.
