Carol Ann Smith Moorefield of Halifax died Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1938 in Cambridge, Mass. and was 78 years old. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Jensen and the late Violet Jensen and was happily married for 57 years to William Frank Moorefield, Jr., who survives.

She was a member of the Winns Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Moorefield was an avid race fan and lover of animals.

Mrs. Moorefield is survived by her husband, William Frank Moorefield Jr. of Halifax; two sons, William Frank Moorefield III and wife Judy of Martinsville, and Michael Moorefield of Scottsburg; two daughters, Michelle Ames of South Hill, and Lisa Davis and husband Lee of Halifax; three grandchildren, Damien Ames, William Moorefield IV and Wesley Moorefield; four great grandchildren; and beloved pet, Coco.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Sullivan.

A funeral will be held Monday, July 3, at 2 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kopco presiding. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg.

The family received friends Sunday, July 2, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home.
