South Boston closes books on 2013-14 budget

South Boston Town Council on Monday evening heard Finance Director Erle Scott review the Town’s financial figures on June 30, the end of the Town’s FY2013-14 budget year.

Caroline Elizabeth Oliver

Caroline Elizabeth Oliver, 102, of 3210 Bold Springs Road, South Boston died at her home on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012. She was born Aug. 2, 1910, a daughter of the late John Long and Amanda Robinson Long. She was married to the late William Oliver and was a member of Dan River Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by three children, Preston Oliver and wife Juanita, Thelma Oliver and Sallie Ewell and husband Willie; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 5 at Dan River Bethel Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dwight Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Jan. 4 from 1-7 p.m. at Dunn & Sons Funeral Home, 540 N. Main Street, Halifax and the family will receive friends at the home.
