Catherine V. Vaughan, 89, of South Boston, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. She was born in Halifax County on May 18, 1928, a daughter of the late John Henry Vaughan and Kate R. Vaughan. She was married to the late Junior Lewis Vaughan and was a member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church.

Ms. Vaughan is survived by one son, Steve Vaughan and wife Gail of South Boston; three grandchildren, Leslie Hess and husband Donnie of Halifax, Scott Vaughan of Henderson, N.C., and Billy Vaughan of Clinton, Md., and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Jane Vaughan and brothers Henry, Robert and Wilson Vaughan.

A funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy McLillian officiating. Burial followed in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
