Catherine Williams Francisco, 96, of Halifax, died Friday, July 3, 2020 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on Jan. 24, 1924, daughter of the late Willie J. Williams and the late Martha Ann Martin Williams. She was married to the late Walter Andrew Francisco, was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and she loved her family and friends. She was a farmer’s wife and she worked very hard. She was an amazing cook. She made the best fried chicken and biscuits. She loved to laugh and take care of everybody. Everybody loved her.

Ms. Francisco is survived by her children, Patti F. Atkinson, daughter and caregiver, of the home, Walter T. (Tom) Francisco and wife Raya of Coral Springs, Fla.; two granddaughters, Julie Barnwell (Chris Barnwell husband) of Weaverville, N.C., Deborah Palmer (Peter Palmer husband) of Coral Springs, Fla.; special grandson, Edward Atkinson (Terrie) and daughter Jordyn of Largo, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Cody Donhauser of Boynton Beach, Fla., Aiden Palmer of Coral Springs, Fla., Gavin Palmer of Coral Springs, Fla., Dylan Barnwell of Weaverville, N.C., Emily Barnwell of Weaverville, N.C.; two sisters, Gertrude Francisco of Scottsburg and Hazel Saunders of Halifax; special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Overby, Lena Smith, James Thomas Williams, Willie “Buck” Williams, Woodrow Williams and Edward Williams and daughter-in-law, Claire Francisco and son-in-law, Johnny Atkinson.
