Chandler Anderson Nelson III

Chandler Anderson “Andy” Nelson III, 34, of Nashville, Tenn., and formerly of Virgilina, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 in Nashville. He was born in Angeles City, Philippines on May 9, 1983, son of Chandler Anderson “Channie” Nelson Jr. and Nelly L. Nelson. He was a member of First Baptist Church, South Boston, was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy and was an avid hunter and golfer.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his parents, Channie and Nelly Nelson of Virgilina; his son, Chandler A. Nelson IV of Charleston, S.C., his brother, David Joseph Nelson and fiancé Carie Lacks of South Boston, his paternal grandmother, Betty Vaughan Nelson of Clarksville; his maternal grandparents, Bebiano S. Quitalig and Gurtrudes L. Quitalig of the Philippines, one nephew, Oliver Joseph Nelson and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Chandler A. Nelson Sr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of his parents, 4231 Ramble Road, Virgilina.

A private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Midway Volunteer Fire Department, 11009 Bill Tuck Highway, Virgilina, VA 24598.
