Christine Cook Witt, 90, of 1727 Irish Street, South Boston, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her home. She was born in Waynesboro on May 7, 1923, daughter of the late John Cook and Mintie Powell Cook and was married to the late William Earl Witt. She was a member of First Baptist Church, South Boston.
Mrs. Witt is survived by one son, William D. Witt of Nellysford; one daughter, Betty Witt Dooley of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.: four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Vinton Cook and wife Mary June of Waynesboro; one sister, Jean Hatter of Lyndhurst. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Douglas, Phil, George, John and Oscar Cook; one sister, Dorothy Anderson and one great-grandchild, William Douglas Witt Jr.
A funeral was held Saturday, July 13 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Graveside services were held in Rockfish Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Nellysford, Sunday with Rev. Dave Anderson officiating.
