Christopher Alan Ammons, 29, of Halifax County, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018. He was born in Halifax County on Aug. 20, 1988, son of David Ammons and Lori Ammons. Chris is an Eagle Scout, played Dixie Youth, Dixie Boys, Babe Ruth and New River Community College baseball. He served in the Army National Guard. Chris also wrote songs, which he shared with family and friends, and enjoyed playing golf.

In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by one sister, Sara Satterfield and husband Darrin of Halifax; two nephews, Carter Cole and Hendrix Satterfield; his furry friend, Lexi; uncle and aunt, John and Renate Harmon of Jetersville, uncle and aunt, Don and Marjorie Paris of Lynchburg, aunt, Muriel Thurman of Waverly Hall, Ga., and a host of cousins.

His maternal grandparents, John “Jack” and Thelma Harmon, Jr. and his paternal grandparents, Allen “Don” and Louise Ammons preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating. Interment will be at Amelia Veterans Cemetery at a later date. The family received friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home and other times at 1022 Highland Hills Drive, Halifax.
