Clarence Edward Smart died June 23, 2017 at the age of 70. He was born in Union County, S.C., on May 5, 1947 to the late Clarence Washington and Minnie Sparks Smart. A 1965 graduate of Bluestone High School, he served in the National Guard and was a security guard at Revlon.

Mr. Smart is survived by daughters, Sarah Leigh Smart of Greensboro, N.C., and Heather Smart Smith of Clarksville; son, Tyler Edward Smart (Laura) of San Diego, Calif., brother, Paul Smart of Rockingham, N.C., grandchildren, Zoe Smith, Zane Smith, Theophilus Smart, Shephard Smart, and Anica Smart.

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Russell presiding. Burial followed in Oakhurst Cemetery.
