Curtis Daniel Seamster Sr., 84, of South Boston, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2019. He was born in Halifax County on Aug. 12, 1935, son of the late Lester Howard Seamster and the late Lilly Mae Whitemore Seamster. He was married to Barbara L. Kates Seamster and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Seamster is survived by his children, Daniel Seamster Jr. and fiancé Mitsy Roller of South Boston, Russell Thomas Seamster of South Boston, Timothy Wayne Seamster of Danville, Cynthia Seamster Hudson and husband David of Alton; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

One great-grandchild, Nolan Short, three brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at 2055 Mt. Zion Church Road, South Boston.
