Damon Harris

John Damon Harris, 81, of Chase City, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2020 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond.


Mr. Harris, affectionately known as "Mustache”, was born in Mecklenburg County, Nov. 20, 1938; one of seven children born to the late Walter and Helen Ogburn Harris.



He leaves to cherish his fond memories five siblings, Judith Harris Freeman of Chase City, Christine Harris Barlow of Richmond, Helen Harris Barnes (David) of Chase City, Ray Donald Harris (Iva) of Sicklerville, N.J., and Edith Harris Walker (James) of Garner, N.C.; one uncle, Charles Moses Gray (Juliet) of South Hill, one aunt, Sadie Gray Pickney of Newark, N.J.; adopted niece, Lisa Dodson; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends, and a special friend, Barbara Roberts of Chase City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Willie Harris.


A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Harris, officiating. Due to Covid-19, seating will be limited, a mask will be required for services, and we ask that you practice social distancing.
