Daniel Shawn Lowery, 49, of South Boston died Friday, March 18, 2011. He was born Nov. 17, 1961 in Richmond, a son of Aubrey Daniel and Constance Yvonne Lowery. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Angela Lowery Dejong of Raleigh, N.C., two half-brothers, Chris Lowery and Tony Lowery, both of Ft. Worth, Texas, two nephews, Tyler Kay and Hunter Dejong and one niece, Stephanie Kay.

A funeral was held Monday, March 21 at Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial followed in Grace Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites.

The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
