Debora Wilborne Bates, 52, of Gretna, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born in New York on Nov. 28, 1964, a daughter of the late Wilson Wilborne and Gloria Randall Wilborne. She was married to the late James Bates and was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church.

Ms. Bates is survived by two daughters, Tina Yuvonda Bates and Catherine Daphne Bates, both of Cody; two sons, Timmy Bates and Channing Davis, both of Maryland; five grandchildren; one sister, Denise Dance (Michael) of South Boston; two brothers-in-law, Roger Dabbs (Ronda) and Sam Dabbs, all of Volens; one uncle, Charles Garrett; one aunt, Barbara Carter (Charles); devoted friend, Joseph Jones Jr., other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Marvin Bowman and Rev. Michael Dance, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing Thursday, Nov. 9 from 1-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home, 3420 Cody Road, Gretna.
