Doris Horne / June 06, 2019

Doris “The Foot Lady” Horne, known to family, friends, and to the many clients she lovingly pampered and soothed their soles, died May 31, 2019.

A native of Halifax County, Doris was born April 23, 1949. She shared a birthday, with her twin brother Horace, the first born of six siblings. Doris moved to Richmond, in 1982 and launched a small business that grew to be her passion and purpose through which she would serve others. The Foot Lady provided a smile, conversation, and a gentle touch to an aching heel or toe. Throughout her 36 years of service, she provided pedicure services to some of Richmond’s most elite members of the community. Over time she amassed a foot collection of over 500 whimsical and extraordinary examples of the many ways in which she would showcase her love for her work.

She is survived by her daughter, Ingrid; mother, Christine Edmunds; brothers, Horace (Lee), Anson (Minnie), Vincent (Austina); and, her sisters, Katrina (Lynn) and Cheryl; grandchildren, Nile, Yahshua, Nzi and Oriduwa; a host of family, devoted friends and clients that will forever miss her contagious smile and witty sense of humor.

A celebration of Doris’ life will be held Friday, June 7, at 11a.m. at New Life Outreach International, 1005 Turner Road, Richmond, Pastor Carlos Riveria.
