Dorothy Hargrove White

Dorothy Hargrove White of 1186 Blue Rock Road, Vernon Hill died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at The Woodview at the age of 87. Born in North Carolina on June 10, 1925 to the late Elijah S. Hargrove and Annie Barksdale Hargrove, she was married to the late Louis White and was a member of Christ Temple Blue Rock Apostolic Church in Vernon Hill.

Mrs. White is survived by three daughters, Martha Conner of Sprignfield, Dorothy Marable of South Boston and Mildred White of Richmond; a son, Henry White of Halifax, fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Ruth White of Halifax and Shirley White of Nathalie; two sons-in-law, Donald Conner of Springfield and James Marable of South Boston; a sister-in-law, Lucille Dixon of Vernon Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma White, two sons, William White and Lawrence White, two sisters, Mildred Bruce and Beatrice Edmonds and two brothers, Randolph Hargrove and Elijah Hargrove.

A funeral will be held Friday, March 1 at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple Blue Rock Apostolic Church in Vernon Hill with District Elder Donald Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be at Jeffress Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home.
