Edith Ingram Powell, 94, of South Boston, died Sunday, March 22, 2020. Born in Halifax County on Feb. 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Hudson Ingram and Fannie Spencer Ingram and was married to the late Carlton Lewis Powell.

As a charter member of Center United Church of Christ, her presence had a lasting impact on the community. Late in life, her equal passions for baseball and baking consumed her time.

Left behind to cherish her memories is a son, Timothy Powell of Concord, N.C.; grandson, Adam Powell; nieces, Mary Womack Tuck, Frances Newcomb and Diane Conner and nephews, Lonnie Powell and Lowell Powell.

She was preceded in death by brothers Luther, Arthur, Garland, Phillip and Elisha Ingram; sisters Nellie Tuck, Dorothy Fisher and Elizabeth Martin and grandson, Christopher Powell.

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at Halifax Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any expenditures be made with the health and safety of your families first.
