Edith King “Ebay” Owen of King Village Trail, Halifax died Thursday, July 23 at her residence at the age of 101.

Mrs. Owen was born in Halifax County on Feb. 12, 1919 to the late James Thaddeus King and Hallie Florence Boxley King. She was married to the late Murray Easley Owen and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a former employee of Halifax County Public Schools.

Mrs. Owen is survived by her multitude of nieces, nephews, Piney Grove Baptist Church family, other relatives and friends including one special friend, Paul Jones.

In addition to her parents and spouse, Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by five sisters: Velma Ballou, Verba Martin, Marion Jackson, Margaret Ballou and Rose Wright; and three brothers: Alfonzo King, Willie King and Leon King.

Graveside services for Mrs. Owen will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. with services at The King Family Cemetery in Halifax with Rev. Anthony Jones officiating.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 28 from10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home.
