Edward Bernard Harris Sr. / May 15, 2018

Edward Bernard Harris Sr, transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly life April 24, 2018. He was the seventh child born to the late Robert and Lu Bethel Harris on September 5, 1935. “E.B.” as he was affectionately called was educated in the Mecklenburg County Public School system, graduating from West End High School. He furthered his education, receiving a trade certificate from St. Pauls College and a mortuary degree from McAllister school of Mortuary Science New York City. E.B. entered the military in 1956 and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1962. At a early age, he joined Land Chapel RZUA and remained a member until his death. Even while working various jobs trying to support his family, he always had an interest in the buying and selling of real estate. He was employed as S.B. Pennick in Newark, N.J. as a pharmaceutical manager, Washing Chemical Company in Lodi, N.J. He returned home in 1968 and worked for the research department Burlington Textiles, Clarksville and at Mecklenburg Correctional Center, as sargeant in which he retired in 2001. He started E.B. Harris Development Company (North Bend Homes) where he helped a lot of people with housing and development.

In 1957, he married Pattie Harris and to this union two children were born, Edward Jr. and Stanley Harris.

Edward Bernard Harris Sr., is survived by his sons: Edward Harris Jr., Stanley Harris, Michael Powell and Quintin Hill and daughter: Malinda Baskerville; Host of Grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; one sister: Angie Harris; Ex-Wife: Pattie Harris; a special devoted friend: Brenda Ramsey and host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was his parents and siblings: Lu Bethel Davis, Jurwell Davis, Robert Davis, Clemintine Davis Hill, Amanda Davis Durham, Catherine Davis Bullock, Mary Ruth Harris Crute-Talley, and a daughter, Gloria Farrar.

A memorial service for Mr. Harris will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Oak Level United Church of Christ, 5631 Jackson Town Road, Manson, NC.

Services are entrusted to Carter’s Funeral Home.
