Edward Dewey Snead Sr.

Edward Dewey Snead Sr., 89, of Scottsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1930 Halifax County, son of the late George Edward Dewey Snead and the late Gladys Vaughan Snead and was married to Annie Snead, who survives. He was a member of Fork Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Snead is survived by his children, Linda Watson and husband Terry of Semora, N.C., Patsy Hodnett and husband Carl of Scottsburg, Dewey Snead of Scottsburg, Vicky Nichols and husband Ralph of Clover; seven grandchildren, Terry Wayne Watson, Michael Noblin (Cindy), Emily Evans (Michael), Tripp Snead (Heather), John Snead (Maggie), Candi Snead and Glen Nichols (Ashley); 11 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren; his sister, Lilian Snead Rickman.

He was preceded in death by siblings Willie Bell Carver, Evelyn Rutledge, Lucille Anderson and Ralph Snead.

Memorial services were held Sunday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Warfield officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to service at the church.
