Eliza B. Terry

Eliza B. Terry, 92, of Nelson died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Sentara Meadowview Terrace.

Mrs. Terry was born in Mecklenburg County on Oct. 24, 1924 to the late Stephen, Sr. and Mamie Webb Terry. She received her education in the Mecklenburg County schools and was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ, Townsville, N.C. She was formerly employed by the former Jones Restaurant as a dessert baker for 21 years.

Cherishing her memories are eight children, Lola Laney (Ellison) of Charlotte, N.C., Chester Terry (Eleanor) of Ponte Verda, Fla., Marion Terry Jr. (Barbara) of Greensboro, N.C., Vera Garner (Harold) of Roxboro, N.C., Evonnie Gbadebo (Obisean) of Windsor, Conn., Fred Terry (Marsha) of Nelson, Torres Terry (Dorita) of Danville, and Ifama Terry of Nelson; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Royster of Greensboro, N.C., Emma Venable (Sidney) of Clarksville, and Linda Smith (Daniel) of Manassas; two brothers, Stephen Terry Jr. and Nathaniel Terry (Roberta) both of Chesterfield; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion M. Terry,Sr. and two brothers, James and Alise Terry.

A funeral was held Tuesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Antioch United Church of Christ, with Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
