Elizabeth Stephens, 90, of South Boston, died Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Halifax Sentara Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on Aug. 18, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph Stephens and Mary Lucy Brandon Stephens. She was a member of Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and a was a former custodian for Halifax County schools.

Ms. Stephens is survived by one daughter, Shirley Owen (Harold) of South Boston; two sons, Melvin Stephens and Ronnie Stephens, both of South Boston; two grandchildren, Nakisha Logan and Marlo Owen; four great-grandchildren, Mya, Saniyah, Lyric and Jaydon; a devoted caregiver, Crystal Dunkley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

A funeral will be held Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at Greater Brandon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Michael Galloway officiating.

At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing.

The family will receive friends at the home of Harold and Shirley Owen, 5231 East Hyco Road, South Boston.
