Elizabeth Virginia Harris Long / March 06, 2018

Elizabeth Virginia Harris Long, 75, died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill. Mrs. Long was the youngest child born Feb. 21, 1943 to the late Norel Edward and Geneva H. Harris in Mecklenburg County. She was a 1961 graduate of West End High School, and was a retired dietary aide at Chase City Health and Rehabilitation. She was of the Baptist faith, attending churches in the area. She loved old gospel music, and enjoyed doing puzzles and watching her soaps. In addition to her parents,

Left to carry on her strong legacy are her five children; Joyce M. Harris , Carolyn Moseley (Donnell), Pamela J. Walton, Ronald Long (Shelly) and Donald Long (Tricia) all of Chase City; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert L. Harris of Newport News; two sisters-in-law, Mildred L. Smith of Lacrosse and Mrs. Norel Harris of Philadelphia; a vast number of nieces, nephews cousins and friends to include devoted Veda T. Branch, Mattie Smithson, Yvonne Bass and Pattie Hayes.

Mrs. Long was preceded in death by husband, Alvino Ray Long; four brothers, Norel, William, Herman and James; and one sister, Della M. Gayles.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday March 7, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City with Rev. Linda Goode, officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 7 from 10 a.m. until service time.
