Elizabeth “Liz” Williams Palmer, 91, of Halifax Road, Halifax, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at Berry Hill Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax County on Jan. 1, 1927, daughter of the late Burrell Bassett and Elizabeth Ragsdale Bassett. She was first married to the late Lorenzo Williams and later to the late Samuel Palmer, Jr. She was a member of Peaceful Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by two sisters, Waynesboro Wyatt of Halifax and Francis Brooks of Little Rock, Ark., five cousins, Venetra Weaver, Norman Duncan, Blondine Duncan, Oliver Ragsdale and Randolph Ragsdale; three stepchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Otis Wyatt.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Stamps officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 2460 Old Halifax Road, Halifax.
