Elton Theauther Medley

Elton Theauther Medley of Colonial Road, Virginia Beach, and formerly of Halifax County died Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital in Virginia Beach at the age of 73.

He was born in Halifax County on Dec. 27, 1946 to the late Willie Earl Medley and Martha Carrington Medley. He was married to Karetha P. Medley.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karetha P. Medley; two daughters, Aresha Medley and Crystal Hopkins (Darrius); a son, Tony E. Medley Sr. (Kimberly); two devoted grandsons, Steffan Watts and Xavier Watts; three granddaughters, Amber Burgess (Robert), Bianca Medley-Palmer (Brian), and Diamond Hopkins; three grandsons, Tony Medley Jr., Khalil Watts, and Darrius Hopkins II (D2); two great-granddaughters, Kamille and Kayonnie Burgess; a god-daughter, Kim Carrington; a sister, Roslyn Nesbit (Lee); a brother, Thomas Scovens Jr. (Gwendolyn); an aunt, Catherine Coleman; two uncles, Earl Wilson and Larry Wilson; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. with services at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Galloway as eulogist. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.

Public viewing will be on Wednesday from noon-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel.
