Emma Belle Barksdale, 60, of Vernon Hill, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 in Blairs. She was born in Halifax County on Sept. 9, 1957, a daughter of the late Margaret Barksdale and Ross Miller. She was employed at Sentara Woodview.

Ms. Barksdale is survived by one son, Patrick Barksdale; four grandchildren, Donta, Deronte, Nesiyah and Ajah; one sister, Mary Jackson; three brothers, Eddie Barksdale, Samuel Barksdale and Ross Miller Jr., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

A funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. John Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday. Public viewing will be Thursday, Nov. 2 from noon-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
