Ernestine Burton

Ernestine Burton, 72, of Chase City, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at VCU Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill.

Ms. Burton was born in Chase City, April 2, 1945 to the late Willie Junious and Gilla Mae Oliver Burton. She attended Bluestone High School, was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was a self-employed seamstress. In her spare time, Ms. Burton enjoyed photography, reading and crafts.

She leave to cherish her memories a son, Wayne Burton of Chase City, a brother, Charles E. Burton of Tacoma, Wash., three sisters, Rosa Johnson of Port Richie, Fla., Lenora Wormack of Fresh Meadows, N.Y. and Kathy Jones of Chase City, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Burton and Patty Coleman and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Burton was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Burton.

A funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
