Estelle Cole Gupton, widow of Eugene Graham Gupton Jr., died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at the age of 99. She was born in Halifax County on June 19, 1918 to the late Fannie Bet Comer Cole and James Ernest Cole. Mrs. Gupton was a graduate of Virgilina High School Class of 1935. She retired from the Virgilina school system after 25 years as a school cafeteria manager and was a member of Aaron’s Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gupton is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Marvin Wells; son, Frank Allen Gupton; sisters, Gladys C. Newcomb of Virgilina and Barbara Woltz of Buffalo Junction; brother, Causey Cole of Clarksville and granddaughters, Kim Inscore (Bruce) and Connie Stimpson (Ned).

A funeral was held Friday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at Aaron’s Creek Baptist Church, Virgilina with Rev. Bryan Gough officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
