Etta Foster Coleman, 101, of Clover, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018 at Sentara Woodview. She was born in Halifax County on May 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Robert Foster and Susie Foster. She was married to the late Willie Coleman and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.

Ms. Coleman is survived by one daughter, Delois Coleman Sydnor of Clover; two grandsons, Avery Lance Sydnor (Erlene) of Scottsburg and Eric Lyndell Sydnor (Clair) of Milwaukee, Wis., nine great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and other of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Foster, Maria Lacks and Carrie Pleasant and five brothers, Albert Foster, Henry Foster, Howard Foster, James Foster and Raymond Foster.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Baptist Church with Rev. Alfred Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing was held Wednesday.

The family will receive friends at the home of Avery and Erlene Sydnor, 1013 Allen Trail, Scottsburg.
