Mrs. Evelyn Deloris Hatcher, 62, of Chase City, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Hatcher was born Aug 12, 1947 in Chase City, daughter of the late Harvey and Clara Watkins Harper Thomas.  She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. She was employed at Jonbil Manufacturers before she began work as a teacher’s aide at the Chase City Elementary School.  She was an active member and supporter of the Cub Scouts as well as a supporter of the Chase City Volunteer Fire Department.

Cherishing her memories are her husband, Winthy Jr.; two sons, Harvey Leon of Clarksville, and Stephen Vincent of Chase City; one sister, Joyce Lee Bacon (Roger) of Randallstown Md.; one brother,  Terry D. Harper (Linda) of Rock Island, Ill.;  four  grandchildren, Adrianna, Brittany, Donte, and Sean; one great grandchild, Ja’Kiah Walker;  a great nephew,  Marques Fowlkes; two aunts,  Naomi Johnson  and Lettie Hall;  one sister- in- law, Earlene H. Palmer (Lindell) of South Hill; three brothers- in- law, Robert Lee Hatcher (Elsie), Melvin Hatcher (Brenda),  Marvin Hatcher (Pamela)  all of Chase City;  one adopted son, Tymane Keene; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A funeral for Mrs. Evelyn Deloris Harper Hatcher was conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Chase City, with Rev. Dr. Ricky A. Lee, officiating. Burial followed in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
