A Clarksville teen died Friday in Buffalo Junction wreck, the first of three deadly car crashes in Mecklenburg County in the past week.

Mrs. Evelyn Overstreet Wilkins, 87, of 270 South Main Street, Halifax died May 4, 2010 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on August 12, 1922, a daughter of the late George Overstreet and Nellie Seay Overstreet and was married to the late A.V. Wilkins. She was a member of Clover Baptist Church and a former manager of Richmond National Bank.

She is survived by one son, Rodney Wilkins and wife Nancy of Prescott, AZ; two daughters, Katherine Wilkins of Halifax and Laura Edwards and husband John of South Boston; grandchildren, Jonathan Barton and wife Miki, John Cranford and wife Joanie, Ann Cranford Edwards and great-grandchildren, Ashton Cranford and Lars Barton; two brothers, Oscar Overstreet and wife Geraldine of Clover and Marvis Overstreet and wife Faye of Conway, SC and one sister, Bernice Carden of South Boston. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Hatcher.

Graveside services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Clover Cemetery with Dr. Russell Lee and Rev. Michael Parnell officiating. Memorials may be directed to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, VA 24592.
