Ferman B. Moody, 87, of Harrisburg, Pa., and formerly of Red Oak, died Friday, February 12, 2021. 

He was the youngest of 11 children born in Red Oak, on May 28, 1933 to the late Fountain and Mary T. Moody. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the young age of six, and joined St. Level Baptist Church in Clarksville. He received his education in the public schools of Charlotte County, and served in the U. S. Army. He earned his B. S. Degree from Virginia State University; Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia; and Doctorate Degree from Penn State University.

He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Steelton, Harrisburg, Pa., where he served as former chairman of the Deacon Board, Budget and Finance committee, Music committee, and Charles Donahue Men’s Chorus.

Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife of 63 years, Mattie W. Moody; two sisters-in-law, Marian Bussie (Morris) and Margaret Moody, and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at noon at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction with Rev. Toney Smith officiating. Interment with honors will follow in St. Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating will be limited, and a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing.
