Florence Thorpe Baptist / February 25, 2020

Florence Thorpe Baptist, age 80 died Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Hospital. She was born June 5, 1939 to the late Jessie and Fannie Thorpe in Granville County, N.C.

Florence joined the Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, at an early age and remained a faithful member until her health declined.
She received her education in the Mecklenburg Public School system.

She was united in marriage to the late Anderson Baptist. To this union five children were born.

She enjoyed being around her family and friends in the community.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: James Baptist, Christopher Baptist (Helen), Anthony Baptist and Vickie Puryear (Steve); two devoted grandsons: Damien and Donovan Puryear: sister-in-law: Geneva Baptist; brother-in-law: Douglas Baptist and host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends and a very special friend: Brenda Fariss.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Tina; sister: Lucille Evans and brothers: James Henry and Jessie Thorpe.

Graveside services were held on Friday, Feb. 21, at noon at Wharton Memorial Gardens.

Services were entrusted into Carter’s Funeral Home.
