Frances Arthur Blanks / July 09, 2020

Frances Arthur Blanks, 95, of South Boston, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020. She was born in Halifax County on May 17, 1925, daughter of the late Edward Lee Arthur and the late Dora Scott DeJarnette Arthur. She was married to the late Ryland Thomas Blanks.

Frances was a member of First Baptist Church of Republican Grove and loved her church. She will always be remembered as a woman who cared for and helped her community, her church, her family, and her friends. She was a homemaker, which for many seems easy, however Frances was one who always had time to lend an ear or a hand to those in need, who made sure her family was taken care of, and who exemplified the picture of a godly woman; Proverbs 31: 17 She girds herself with strength, and makes her arms strong. 20 She opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out her hands to the needy. 25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. 27 She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

Ms. Blanks is survived by her daughter, Rebecca B. Colatruglio and husband Joe of Ann Arbor, Mich., two grandchildren, Mark Edward Glass of Fredericksburg and Kristi Hope Marquart and husband Gary of Purcellville; two great-grandchildren, Ashton Haley Marquart and John Scott Marquart.

Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove Cemetery with Rev. Shelton Miles officiating.
