Garland Nathaniel Crowder of Virgilina died Tuesday, March 17 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age 75.

Mr. Crowder was born in Halifax County on Dec. 18, 1944 to Ms. Ida Christine Young and the late Mr. Arthur Lee Crowder.

Mr. Crowder is survived by his mother, Ida Christine Young of Virgilina; three sisters, Alice Kathetrine Ingram, Rose Young and Margaret Miles, all of Roxboro, N.C.; three brothers, James Young of Virgilina, Donald Stanley Young (Virnae) of South Boston, and John Young of Roxboro, N.C.; his dedicated caretakers and cousins, Harold Hughes and Diana Edmunds; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, Garland was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Frances Crowder and Evelyn Young; a brother, George Young and a dedicated caregiver, Rose Marie Hughes.

Due to public health concerns, there was a private service held Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m. with services at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lorenzo Love officiating. Burial followed at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Virgilina.
