Garrie Elwyn Bowman, 31, of Union Grove Road, South Boston, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born May 30, 1986 in Halifax County, a son of Carolyn Womack Harris and Garrie Elwyn Bowman, Sr. and was a member of New Vernon Baptist Church.

Mr. Bowman is survived by his parents, Carolyn Harris of the home and Garrie Bowman Sr. of Clover; his step-father, Robert Harris of the home; three sisters, Shena Bowman Powell of the home, Diamond Bowman and Makayla Bowman, both of South Boston; one brother, Chance Bowman of South Boston, and a host of aunts, uncles, great-aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. John Anthony Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Monday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 2008 Union Grove Road, South Boston.
