Gary Davis Whitt, 69, of South Boston, died Monday, March 30, 2020. He was born in Halifax County on Aug. 11, 1950, son of Frances Smith Whitt and the late Owen Davis Whitt. He was married to Sandra Saunders Whitt and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved his farming, baseball, racing and growing vegetables in his garden. Gary was an avid hunter and one of the founding members of the Hyco Road Hunting Club, which consists of many of his best friends.

Mr. Whitt is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra S. Whitt; his children, Cindy Smith and husband Doug of Hampton, Jason Whitt and wife Kacey of South Boston; three grandchildren, Bridget Smith, Molly Smith and Kendall Whitt and his mother, Frances Smith Whitt.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack Stewart and Rev. Randy Holmes officiating.
