Gary Kauffman Koontz, age 81 of Chase City, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at his home.

He is survived by his longtime companion Elizabeth “Betsy” Andrews of the home; nieces Ruth M. “Midge” Koontz and Susan Cooney (Wade); and nephew, William Starner (Sandy).

Mr. Koontz was preceded in death by his parents, Garry Charles & Marie Koontz; a sister, Dorothy K Starner and brother, Karl Koontz.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chase City, with interment to follow in the Colley family cemetery.

The family request memorial considerations be directed to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 338 E 4th Street, Chase City, VA 23924 or Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, P O Box 311, Chase City, VA 23924.
