Mrs. Gay Guill Crenshaw of Halifax died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at The Woodview Nursing Home. Born in Halifax County on August 5, 1925, she was 84 at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late C.E. Guill and the late Sudie Powell Guill and was married to the late Samuel Jefferson Crenshaw. She was a member of the Dan River Baptist Church.

Mrs. Crenshaw is survived by a son, Jerry Crenshaw and wife Pam of South Boston and a daughter, Jeanette Booker and husband Kenneth of Richmond, four grandchildren, Chris Crenshaw, Scott and Jennifer Booker of Richmond, Catherine Lee of Cary, N.C. and three great grandchildren, a sister, Bernice Williams of Richmond and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Fisher and a brother, Fred Guill.

A funeral service for Mrs. Crenshaw will be held Tuesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Gibson and the Rev. John Eure officiating. Burial will follow in the Dan River Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, May 3, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at her home, 1019 Sinai Road, Halifax.
