George Edward Carter Jr., 81, of Chase City, passed away on Nov. 1, 2013.
He was born on March 12, 1932 in Mecklenburg County to the late George Edward and Rachel Fitz Carter. Mr. Carter was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World and he was a retired gGeneral contractor.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audrey Ayers Carter, his daughter, Anne Carter Homes and her husband, Charles F. Homes III of Boydton, two brothers, Wayne C. Carter of Chase City, and Hershel Carter of Chesterfield, two sisters, Shirley Andrews of Chase City, and Norma Hamlett of Richmond, one grandson, Mark Brandon Homes and his special friend, Michelle Phillips and daughter Taya of Greensboro, N.C., numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Happy.
A funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation began one hour prior to the service. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in Care of Donna Smith, 9040 Trottinridge Rd, Chase City, VA 23924.
