George Washington Stovall Sr., 82, of Stovall Trail, Halifax died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on July 16, 1928, a son of the late Johnny Stovall and Thelma Hendricks Stovall.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Coreen Perkins Stovall; two daughters, Theresa and Annie; four sons, James, George, Vincent and Thomas; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Panthelia Tucker; a brother, Gene Coleman, aunt Maxine Stovall, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Meadville with Pastor R.S. Wimbish officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church and other times at 1190 Stovall Trail, Halifax. Visitation today from noon-6 p.m. at Dunn & Sons Funeral Home.
