Obituaries

George Willie Hill

George Willie “Chicken George” Hill, 70, of L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway, Halifax, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on May 31, 1946, son of the late Willie Jackson and Anna Lee Anderson Hill. He joined Murphy Grove Baptist Church at an early age and remained dedicated to Christ until death and he was a 1969 graduate of Mary Bethune High School.

Mr. Hill is survived by three sisters, Catherine Hill Glass of Baltimore, Md., Bessie Hill Lampkins of Washington, DC and Christine Joanne Freeman of Mitcheville, Md.; two brothers, Charlie Reed Hill (Shirley) of South Boston and Clarence Junious Hill (Sally) of Woodbridge.

A funeral will be held Saturday, April 15, at noon at Murphy Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday, April 14 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
