Gerald Bryant Hudson of Halifax died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018. He was born in Halifax County on Nov. 27, 1947and was 70 years old. He was the son of the late Woodrow Hutch Hudson and Farris Paige Comer Hudson and was married to Ruth Irene Gordon Hudson who survives.

He was a member of Florence Avenue Baptist Church and was a retired sheet metal mechanic with Comfort Systems USA. He also was a US Army Vietnam era veteran. He loved his family, horses, goats and being outside.

Survivors include his wife of Halifax, two daughters, Barbara Carol Hudson Farrar and fiancé Steve Thompson of Halifax, Brenda Cheryl Hudson Campbell and fiancé Michael Reavis of Buffalo Junction, a son, Terry Layne Hudson and wife Crystal Vaughan Hudson of Nathalie, three sisters, Irma Jean Wilborn of Merritt Island, Fla., Myrna West of Clarksville and Bonnie Wilson of Virgilina, six grandchildren, Stephen and Savannah Farrar, Wyatt and Brandon Campbell, and Gage and Chase Hudson.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Stover Hudson and three sisters, George Anna Wilborn, Glenda Bowes and Lottie Hudson.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 3 Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Hudson and Rev. Mike Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens with military rites.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home, 5176 Oak Level Road, Halifax.
