Gladys Lourine McCormick Throckmorton / March 11, 2019

Gladys Lourine McCormick Throckmorton, 82, of Scottsburg, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019. She was born in Halifax County on June 15, 1936, daughter of the late Alonza Lennie McCormick and the late Florida Adell Owen McCormick. She was married to the late Earl Reginald Throckmorton and was a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church.

Ms. Throckmorton is survived by her children, Betty Lou Duffer of South Boston, Carl Throckmorton and Amy of Scottsburg, Judy Thompson and Mike of Halifax; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Bill McCormick and Fay of Forest, Frances Womack of Vernon Hill and Pat Holcomb and Tommy of Nathalie.

She was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence, Charlie, David and Bud McCormick and sisters Annie Womack and Peggy Murray.

A funeral was held Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kermit Evans officiating. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.

The family held visitation at Friday, March 8 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Scottsburg Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and one hour prior to service at Powell Funeral Home, other times at her home 1138 Easley Crossing Trail, Scottsburg.
