Gloria Davis Edmondson, 84, of Berry Hill Road, South Boston, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on Sept. 25, 1933, daughter of the late Dave Davis and Signora Wyatt Davis. She was a member of Evening Light Cathedral, Danville, and was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Edmondson is survived by four daughters, Kay Edmondson and Patricia Edmondson Thompson, both of Hampton, Faye Bowman and friend Cavanaugh Robertson and Deborah Buster Davenport and husband Edward, all of South Boston; one son, Alvin Edmondson and wife Linda of Waco, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rose Taylor of Waterbury, Conn., Ernestine Davis of New Haven, Conn., Betty Mayes and husband Bobbie of Jamaica, N.Y. and Bessie Davis of Flushing, N.Y.; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Ann Williams and one brother, Thomas Davis.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Evening Light Cathedral, 130 Bradley Road, Danville, with Bishop Fred B. Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Garden Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Dec. 29 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davenport, 4405 Brentwood Drive, South Boston and the home of Danielle Gingles, 220 Skylark Drive, Danville.
