Gloria Loraine Jeffress Stokes

Gloria Loraine Jeffress Stokes of Scottsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at her residence at the age of 53. Born in Halifax County on Jan. 23, 1960 to Freddie Jeffres, Sr. and Edith Flenoury Jeffress, she was married to Cecil Demara Stokes and was a member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stokes is survived by her husband, of the home, two sons, Joel JeRon Jeffress and wife, Nicole of Richmond and Jason Le’Mar Jeffress of Scottsburg, three step children, Antwane Stokes and wife, Paula of Waldorf, Md., Ephrian Stokes and April Thompson and husband DeRone, all of Blackstone, eight grandchildren, her father and mother of Scottsburg, two sisters, Vealer J. Staten and husband Ralph of South Boston and Jane L. Marable and husband, Joseph of Elizabeth City, N.C., three brothers, Fred Jeffress and wife, Yolanda of South Boston, Gerald Jeffress of Fort Levenworth, Mo., and Rufus Jeffress and wife, Angela of Scottsburg, an aunt, Nettie Gracie Coleman of Danville, her father-in-law, William Stokes, a sister-in-law, Tanya Carol, a brother-in-law, Anthony Stokes, two adopted aunts, Barbara Sledge and Shirley Ross, both of Richmond and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Donna Carr.

A funeral will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at Spanish Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie M. Womack officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and at all other times at the residence, 8103 MacDonald Road, Scottsburg.

Funeral services are by Jeffress Funeral Home.
